Bangor have advanced to the County Antrim Shield semi-final after a 3-1 north Down derby win over Ards. Jay Boyd scored twice and Reece Neale added another to secure the quarter-final victory at Clandeboye Park.

Boyd's brace proved decisive in the local cup tie. Connor Maxwell netted a late consolation for Ards, but it was not enough to stop Bangor's progress. The win offers a welcome distraction from their league form, which has seen them take just one point from their last four Premiership games.

The Seasiders will now face Cliftonville on 4 November for a place in the final. The other semi-final spot will be decided when Dundela meet Ballymena United a day earlier.

This cup success arrives as Bangor sit eighth in the Premiership table, having lost their last two league matches. They face a stern test in their next outing, hosting league leaders Larne on 24 October.

Bangor's focus now shifts to preparing for that league challenge while also looking ahead to their semi-final date at Solitude.
