Bangor suffered a 2-0 defeat away to Linfield in the Premiership on Saturday. The loss leaves the Seasiders rooted to the bottom of the table with only five points from their opening 11 matches.

Kirk Millar opened the scoring for the hosts in the 57th minute. Shields then doubled the advantage from the penalty spot eight minutes later, securing the points for Linfield. Bangor's task was made harder when Lynch was sent off just after the hour mark, one of four yellow cards shown to visiting players.

Manager Lee Feeney made five changes during the game in an attempt to alter the course of the match. Mitchell replaced McGuinness early on, with further substitutions following at half-time and throughout the second period.

The result extends a difficult run for Bangor, who have now lost three consecutive league games. They have conceded 24 goals this season while scoring only 10, leaving them with a goal difference of minus 14. Their next challenge is a key home fixture against Dungannon Swifts at Clandeboye Park this Saturday. The Swifts won the previous meeting between the sides 2-0 back in August.

Midfielder Liam Hassin delivered a blunt assessment after Bangor's latest defeat. He said, "It's zero points...pat each other on the back all you want, but you need to be putting points on the board." The club confirmed their attention now turns to a Co Antrim Senior Shield quarter-final against rivals Ards on Tuesday. Bangor, 12th in the Premiership with five points, are seven points adrift of safety alongside Portadown.
